How This Price Is Calculated
The price shown is the international silver spot rate in US dollars, converted to your selected currency and re-based from troy ounces to a per-10-gram unit. Rates refresh once daily. This is the raw spot-derived estimate and excludes GST, import duty, and any dealer premium — unlike gold, silver does not get VAT/GST exemption in most markets including India, so retail prices run meaningfully higher than spot.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the silver rate today?
The live price card above reflects the current international silver spot rate per 10 grams, converted to your selected currency.
Why is silver more volatile than gold?
Silver has a much smaller market than gold and a large share of demand comes from industrial uses (electronics, solar panels, batteries), which makes it more sensitive to swings in industrial demand and speculative trading on top of the investment demand it shares with gold.
Does silver get the same tax treatment as gold in India?
No. India’s customs duty and GST structure taxes silver at a similar overall rate to gold, but silver does not benefit from the investment-grade VAT exemptions some countries (like parts of the EU) apply to gold — so silver’s effective tax load can differ by country. Check the currencies page for country-specific detail.
What drives the gold-to-silver price ratio?
The gold/silver ratio (how many ounces of silver equal one ounce of gold) rises when investors favor gold as a safe haven and falls when industrial demand or risk appetite favors silver. It has historically ranged widely, from under 20 to over 100.
Is silver a good hedge like gold?
Silver shares some of gold’s role as an inflation and currency hedge, but because a large share of its demand is industrial, it tends to correlate more with economic growth cycles than gold does, which can make it behave less like a pure safe-haven asset.
How is the per-10-gram silver price calculated?
The USD spot price per troy ounce is converted to your currency at the current exchange rate, then divided by ~31.1 grams per troy ounce and multiplied by 10.
